You don’t have to follow OSHA: You can have stricter safety policies. You of course know that the OSHA safety rules are safety minimums. In other words, these safety rules are the bare bones of good safety practices.
But did you know OSHA welcomes you, the employer, to adopt stricter safety rules? Yup. If you feel you’d like to have safety practices that are “better” than OSHA’s you can do so. I’ve noticed over the past 20 years in the safety profession that more and more companies are moving in that direction. They do so by adopting their own safety policies/practices with the goal in mind of increasing employee safety.
