You no doubt have training programs for your employees. You have likely heard from others that training is important. Many times, businesses provide training on the topics set forth in their safety manual. This is great. The Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA) and the Mine Safety Health Administration (MSHA) both require training. For OSHA you can look to OSHA 2254-O9R 2015 for a list to mandatory topic training. And, for MSHA, pretty much any task a miner is asked to undertake requires training on how to safely handle that task (30 CFR Parts 46 and 48).
Beyond the OSHA and/or MSHA safety training requirements, it is wise to provide task training for any employee asked to carry out a task. Even simple tasks. Even where the federal safety rules may not be required task safety training, seriously consider providing the employee instruction on how to conduct an assigned task properly and safely. Such training will likely take only a few minutes. It can help prevent injury. So, take a few minutes to task training employees on tasks assigned them.
