Signs Matter in the real world.
It’s a hot summer day, with very little breeze, and any means of cooling off is welcome. A young man (over 18 years old) and some of his friends decide they have a great idea to cool down. There is a closed mine about ½ mile away and they know a way to get past the fence, through the overgrowth, and down to the bottom of the mine where the water is. On the way to their destination, the young men pass a dozen signs saying, “Danger, Stay Out”, “No trespassing”, “ No Swimming”, “Danger, Keep Out”, etc.
The young men ignore the signs, struggling through the fence and then the overgrowth.
They all jump into the water. All but one climb out of the water to shore.
Signs provide all sorts of information. Food, gasoline, exit, products, movie shows, etc. Signs also provide information regarding hazards. Signs are important because many hazards are not apparent to most people. People are not dumb, but hazards can and do exist that many of us simply are unaware of, hence, the warning sign.
Hazards must be signed to alert those of us who may work or be near them. So signs matter, pay attention and heed the warning. The real world contains hazards. Signs matter.
